Free Money : Week 7

Jerome
Freisa

i decided to go to Marston at its peek hours of study for students. im going to stop people walking into the library and present them with the a dollar. i will express that i know how stressful exams can be and just want to do my part in helping ease that stress even with as minimal a gesture as a dollar bill hopefully you can get a snack to recharge and continue studying!!

encounter 1. Emily was walking into the library i stopped her and delivered my pitch. she though it was really cool what i was doing and said th e school should have more resource to students to deal with the stress of exams. it made her feel good about studying and accepted the dollar.

encounter 2. Jordan was walking into the library with headphones. i tried to deliver my pitch and extend the dollar however he didn,t remove his headphones and simply said I'm sorry i have to study and began to walk away. i would consider this a failed attempt.

encounter 3 . Alexis was walking into the library with Starbucks in her hand i delivered my pitch and she was very receptive she said this was a very cool and kind gesture. but was already getting her pump from Starbucks to save it for someone who needed it. in this case i would say i misjudged her need.

overall i thought this was  a really cool experiment. it allowed me to see how receptive students were to the gesture. it was much easier then i thought because it was free money and for a good cause the dollar itself did all the selling for me.

  1. Hi Maria! I loved your idea behind your reasoning for giving people a dollar. I think anyone, especially students, are more willing to accept a dollar if they know it is for a good deed. So great job! You seemed very calm and articulate in the way you delivered your pitch, which I feel made you very approachable. Over all, I really enjoyed your post!

  2. Hey I really liked how you approached this assignment. I think the fact that you went to Marston and you told them it was an incentive for their studying, really encouraged students to take the dollar from you. I also like how you said that you "misjudged Alexis' need" because it showed that you were really thinking about the assignment in terms of entrepreneurship and business in general. You seemed to have gotten a lot out of this assignment and I think you did a good job with it.

  3. Maria,
Great reasoning behind giving the dollar – to take their mind off the stress related to studying.. I’m sure it added value to many of them, no matter how insignificant. I also thought it was neat that you decidedly “misjudged their need”. From those little failures, you improve your service to your customers by aligning your mission with the customer’s beliefs.

I missed this assignment, but check out my blog at http://ufentclassblog.blogspot.com/
