My name is Maria Yarbough. I' m very skilled in analytical thinking and problem solving. im great with math skills as well as communication skills. i hols public speaking as one of my strong points. many of my aspirations include building myself a sturdy framework so that i can do the things i love such as travel, spend time with family do all things associated with a healthy lifestyle. my plan to build my frame work is to succeed in their corporate world as an investment banker. this being said i would love to be able to help other students get their feet wet with investing and building their own framework. my hope is that "Invest the Rest" with help students become wiser with their money while making a stake in the current market.
Im offering a way for students to learn the ins and outs of investing. so they can understand the storm market. and learn how to move through. the ultimate goal is to make money. the student investors will be given the tools to capitalize on small stocks and predicts their trends. itll come equipped with a user friendly app that will allow them to make purchases track their earnings and stocks just as if they were strolling down Instagram or Facebook.
my market will be pulled directly towards college students but not restricted to UF the stock market is worldwide so there would great opportunities for expansion, we are targeting any student will to make some money will learning to be money smart.
its a know fact that college students struggle. especially financially. this would offer them a new way to create income. They will also gain a new skill that will put them a foot forward when entering the real world.
one thing that will set my business apart is the learning sector not only will you be provided the channel to do investments were going to teach you how. taking the blind fold off of the stock market. in addition were offering convenience by selectively targeting college students and having basically everything assecible from your phone.
one area that i think is a little weak is why should the students care. investing doesn't appeal to all students so it would be challenging getting student to try us out. also students are already pressured by school. so babe another task that they have to learn and maintain could be too daunting for some. and ultimately would some students loose money which is a volatile possibility.
I think this is a great idea. Most students do not know the basics of investing. Many students are willing to try anything to make money. Learning about investments and stocks through a mobile app would be beneficial in the short-run and long-run. My only concern is that in order to make money, you have to spend money as well. If you're willing to make a lot of money by investing in stocks, you must be able to afford losing money if the stock does not turn out well. Many students do not have that type of money to invest. This is a great concept though for possibly an older target market. Check out my article: http://npc95.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-no-1.html
ReplyDeleteMaria,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I think it is nice to know that someone has a genuine passion for what they do (in your case investment) and want to give others a tool to educate themselves so that they can improve their lives. I love that! I can see your point about one area being weak is why students would care, but honestly I think that the reason why students don't care is because it seems so daunting to try and figure out. But with a tool like yours I think you would quickly find that it really does matter to students and now we would have a way to learn more about investing.

Really awesome job of thinking outside of the box on this one. I know many young people that are interested in stocks at an early age but feel they don't have the money or resources to start. You will have created a new market for stocks and change the way the market works. The app idea will really the this off and make it convenient and fun to check the status of your investments. Great job I really enjoyed your idea.
ReplyDeleteI can completely understand the criticisms you have for your concept. Being on a strict budget, as I assume most college students are, the thought of losing money is not a risk I'm willing to take. However, I feel that's more so due to the fact that I don't think I'm educated enough in this area, and so I feel that educating your audience through the learning sector you mentioned will definitely give them more confidence in participating in the stock market.
